Tobermory Revetment Works Completed

February 2014 saw the completion of repair works to the Tobermory slipway revetment for Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd.

The key elements of the contract were:

Removal and replacement of 350m2, precast concrete revetment including new high flow geotextile and stainless steel reinforced concrete crest beam.
Additional 110m2 AB fabric formwork toe protection
Repointing and grout stabilisation of existing masonry seawall
Protection of RNLI berth structure for duration of works
Placement of cast in situ concrete toe protection to existing revetment structure
Installation of hydraulic weep tubes to completed masonry wall
Installation of edge protection barriers to side of slipway
Stabilisation of rock outcrop to landward side of slipway
    Associated site works

Ramsay Muirhead, head of civil engineering at Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd commented:

“Norfolk Marine recently completed a revetment replacement and sea wall repair project at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull for Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL).  Despite working through the middle of winter and with a number of unexpected challenges, Norfolk delivered a good quality finished product.  They willingly undertook a large amount of additional works CMAL requested, all of which was carried out to within sensible additional costs and in reasonable time.  Their team on site worked very well with the port operator, the ferry operator and other local stakeholders, including the RNLI.”

We would like to thank CMAL for placing the contract with Norfolk Marine Ltd and look forward to working on future projects with them should the opportunity arise.
