Titanic Dock Belfast - Fabric Form Works

In the year of the centenary celebrations for the launch of the Titanic, fabric formwork is currently being used by one of our dive teams to provide bearings and seals for the temporary works being constructed by McLaughlin and Harvey Ltd to Thompsons Dry Dock in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. This is the dry dock in which the worlds most famous ship was outfitted in. Once the temporary works are completed a new permanent concrete wall will be built in front of the dock's ageing, once steam operated, caisson gate.

The fabric formwork bearings provide full face contact between the sheet piled walls restraining framework whilst the seals prevent water ingress between the sheet piles and the irregular face of the dry dock wall.

Hawes Pier East Repair Works Completed

Work was completed on the concrete repairs to Hawes Pier for Edinburgh City Council prior to the end of 2012. The repairs will allow the marine structure to continue in use as a landing for the Firth of Forth Passenger vessels and the craft servicing the construction site for the new Forth Crossing.

Norfolk Marine Ltd fulfilled the following to complete the contract.

  •     Supplied and installed a fabric formwork under water structural underpinning system.
  •     Designed and placed underwater concrete.
  •     Carried out concrete patch repairs.
  •     Performed investigation of structures fill and reinstated concrete deck.
  •     Oversaw health and safety as main contractor performing structural repairs to working marine                  structure subject to strong tidal flow and adverse winter weather conditions.
