Survey Works Completed 'Swiftly'

Norfolk Marine’s survey vessel, the “Norfolk Swift”, has completed her second survey contract this month, for E.on. The first contract was completed at Scroby Sands Offshore Windfarm prior to maintenance work being carried at the site, early in May. For this contract, the vessel operations were conducted from Norfolk Marine’s Lowestoft base, allowing the contract to be completed in a short time frame, suiting the client’s needs.

On securing of the second contract for works at Robin Rigg Offshore Windfarm, the vessel was quickly stripped down for road transport to Cumbria from Lowestoft. All external Wheelhouse fittings on the vessel are designed for rapid removal and refitting so all aerials, masts and radar equipment etc can be removed in minutes, allowing the vessel to be moved by road, reducing mobilisation costs and timeframe. This enables the Norfolk Swift to be unloaded at the site, lifted in to the water, and be ready for survey operations within four hours.

Geomara, Norfolk Marine’s Survey Partners, had their team on the Quay side ready to go. Having worked from the vessel on several previous contracts, equipment set up was completed smoothly and survey operation began the following morning at 6am.

Johnny Gallagher, Norfolk Marine’s Sales Director commented “the Norfolk Swift is a highly versatile Survey Vessel and, combined with Geomara’s 'can do' approach, enables us to react quickly to client’s needs when required”.

The Robin Rigg contract was completed within 3 days of the vessel being loaded on to the truck in Lowestoft, less time than would be expected just to mobilise a vessel to site by sea transit. M.A. Ponsonby Ltd International Transport keep a custom built cradle for the Norfolk Swift to ensure simple and safe transport to any port in the UK.
