NORFOLK TERN WFSV On Way to Seawork 2013

The NORFOLK TERN WFSV has successfully undergone sea trials at Aurora (Dalian) Yachts Ltd. The 17m long aluminium catamaran achieved its design speed of 25 knots with a full complement of passengers and crew. However, it is the 20 knot cruising speed with its C18 Caterpillar engines running at 1750 rpm whilst burning a modest 86 lph that will be of significant interest to its prospective charterers and purchasers.

The boat demonstrated excellent sea keeping abilities proving to be stable and highly manoeuvrable at all speeds, its load carrying capacity was also proven during the stability tests all of which were witnessed by the certifying authority MECAL’s Hong Kong representative.

On 3rd of May, the NORFOK TERN was sailed the short distance to the Dalian Port Container Terminal where she was lifted from the water onto her shipping cradle and placed in the aft hold of the 363m 131322 gross ton container vessel the CMA CGM Titan for the 41 day journey to Southampton.

Close management of the vessels completion date and logistics mean that the vessel will be exhibited at the 2013 Seawork exhibition on stand V28 with representatives of Norfolk Marine Ltd and Aurora (Dalian) Yachts Ltd on board to demonstrate how the companies cooperation bought the innovative vessel to the market.
