Thanet Offshore Wind

The 300MW Thanet Offshore Windfarm has been developed by Vattenfall 12km from shore in the Thames estuary and consists of 100 number 3.0MW Vestas V90 turbines constructed on monopole foundations in water depths varying from 14m to 23m.

Subocean installed both the 132KV export cable and the 33KV array cables, the array cable being the first to be installed on an offshore wind farm site from a DP2 vessel. The NORFOLK SWIFT was contracted by Subocean as a 24 hour crew and support boat for their cable termination team. The vessel transported the electricians and their equipment from the supply base in Ramsgate Port to the offshore substation and the wind turbines.

Due to the boats flexibility, large aft deck and speed it was also utilized as a fast supply boat by Suboceans subcontract dive teams.

On completion of Suboceans contract the boat was employed by Gardline Marine Services to work as a crew boat for the wind farms developer Vattenfall during the snagging of the 100 turbine towers.
